Fearlessly Lukewarm

Laodicean Christians are fearful and r=
espectful enough of God’s power to acknowledge and worship The Lord, but th=
ey are self-sufficient enough to live their lives independent from God.&nbs=
p; It is the arrogance of that thinking that makes them lukewarm (v.17a).&n=
bsp; Jesus said “you cannot serve two masters” (Mt. 6:24). Remember t=
hat God is not looking for a building full of good, law-abiding hard-workin=
g church folk. Deeds alone won’t cut it (v. 15). The Lord seeks=
committed followers who see a relationship with Jesus as the source of all=
things in their lives.

Lord, we seek to place our lives in Your refiner’s fire. Cover =
our nakedness, heal our blindness, and remove the poverty of our faith.&nbs=
p; Help us to know the power and strength behind being Your witness in all =
things, in Jesus name … AMEN.

Fearlessly Keeping the Door Open

One of the most powerful images in Revelatio=
n is the open door. The church in Philadelphia, despite its weaknesse=
s, was faithful and did not deny the name of Christ. The open door is=
the invitation to enter the messianic kingdom yet to come. Remember =
our faithfulness to the Lord links our lives to the faithfulness of almight=
y God to us. Philadelphia’s message is that God is faithful – so hol=
d on (v.11). You hang in there as well today – God is with you, is ke=
eping the door open, and the possibilities are yet endless…

Lord we stand faithfully with You, because of who You are , and =
because You loved us before we loved ourselves. Help us to see =
Your faithfulness to us in our lives, in Jesus name … AMEN.

Fearlessly Alive

The church in Sardis had a reputation =
of being a lively church, but look inside and you find that the church had =
changed. Perhaps they got used to a routine way of worship, or rode o=
n the work ethic of only a few in the fellowship. Whatever the proble=
m, the Lord chastised them for resting on their reputation, and letting tha=
t carry them while they do nothing (v 2). Remember faith without work=
s is dead (James 2:26), and God is not pleased with those who see Christian=
ity as merely an aspect of their lives, instead of a complete lifestyle… =

O God, I pray that you touch my life today, and show me where I can b=
e used by You. Speak through me and to me as I minister, and let Your=
light shine through me, in Jesus name … AMEN.

Fearlessly Blessed To Believe

Naaman was the captain of the Syrian g=
uard, sent by his king to find a cure for his leprosy. He was brought=
to Elisha the Israeli prophet. Elisha sends a servant out who tells =
Naaman to wash 7 times in the Jordan river. He angrily walks away, an=
d nearly leaves the country, but is urged by his own servants to follow-thr=
ough. Naaman does, and is cleansed. But see what happens after=
wards. He comes back to Elisha a believer in the Lord God. Reme=
mber the miraculous in your life always points to faith. Miracles sen=
d a message that there is a God who intervenes in lives and alters history.=
Remember when Jesus turned water into wine? The disciples beli=
eved on him as a result (John 2:11). Remember God doesn’t bless you f=
or blessings sake. They should strengthen your trust and dependence o=
n the Lord…

O God we thank you for the miracles You’ve already performed in =
our lives today. Breath in our bodies, eyesight, being in our right m=
ind are just a few examples of Your hand of grace. Help us to appreci=
ate our relationship with You more each moment, in Jesus name … AMEN.

Fearlessly Returning Evil with Good

Our text instructs us to return evil w=
ith goodness, even if it leads to your suffering. It tells us that th=
e blessing of knowing Christ outweighs any reason we may come up with to se=
ek revenge. It is not up to us to even the score, but up to God. =
; It is our task to be a witness to how Christ has changed our lives. =
When you live in this way, your fears will change. As a Christian, y=
our fears will center around pleasing/displeasing God, and not around getti=
ng taken advantage of, or around the cost of escalating revenge. “Fea=
ring God” and being obedient to the word is the scope of our duties (Eccl 1=
2:13)…

O God, I pray this day that you change my fears. I pray that yo=
u teach me how to live my life pleasing to Your will and Your way. I =

Isaiah 61 signa=
ls to the nation of Israel the end of their exile, and that God is changing=
their lives. In other words, God is bringing beauty, gladness, prais=
e from the ashy, mourning despair of life. Also, the Lord is restorin=
g, rebuilding and renewing the ancient, devastated ruins of circumstances.&=
nbsp; Remember your life can also change this way through the power of God’=
s Spirit. God is good all the time…

Fearlessly Embracing Spiritual Understanding

Do you remember the movie “The DaVinci Code”? =
Its what came to mind when I read this morning’s paper about Jesus be=
ing “married”. I suppose the discovery of this ancient fragment will =
get people talking, but the debate is will be esoteric, and bear little on =
our day to day faith. Remember God’s wisdom and our wisdom are on two=
different planes. We usually use earthly knowledge and logic to unde=
rstand the world around us. But Paul above is telling us that we have=
another source to draw upon. He tells the Corinthians that his conne=
ction to Christ is spiritual, and not subject to earthly understanding.&nbs=
p; His imprisonment for the cause of Christ may not be logical by the world=
‘s standards, but it makes sense in the Spirit. Remember our spirits =
come from God. When we connect our spirits to Christ, it opens new vi=
stas on why we experience what we experience.

O Lord, speak to my heart and soul as I do about my daily tasks, and rem=
ind me of what is the wisdom of this world verses Your Will. Keep my =
mind stayed on You, in Jesus name, AMEN

Fearless Possibility of the Impossible

When his disciples asked for a deeper =
spiritual connection to God (“Lord teach us to pray!”), Jesus told them to =
say this, “…give us this day our daily bread”. We know that means w=
hatever you need for this day has been prepared by the Lord. Ready fo=
r you to live it. But it also means to make room for the miraculous, =
and the possibility of the impossible. Our text affirms that God can =
do anything on this day on your behalf – not because you deserve it, but be=
cause He loves you. Take some time to sit still and listen to the Spi=
rit speak to your heart. It will help you appreciate God’s daily inte=
rvention to supply your needs…

Speak Lord, for we your servants hear You (1 Sam. 3:10), and let the =
words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your =
sight O Lord, our Strength and our Redeemer… AMEN.

Fearless is God’s Faithfulness

As I prepared to preach yesterday, the=
minister in charge asked me what scripture shall she read. I told he=
r, whatever came to her heart. As I peeped over her shoulder, I notic=
ed her bible was turned to the text above. It inspired the message an=
d our morning meditation! None of us are perfect, and our imperfection=
s can be a source of great anxiety and consternation in our lives. Bu=
t that does not stop God from reaching out to us, and it should never stop =
us from reaching out to God. Remember we are all a work-in- progress,=
being molded and shaped by the Master. Amen to that…

Lord, we are thankf=
ul that, despite our filthy righteousness, you love us and save us from our=
selves. I ask that you allow us to feel your molding and shaping in o=
ur lives, as we yield our lives to you, in Jesus name … AMEN.
