Fearless Blessing

14   Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Romans 12:14

This is a hard saying – Paul is echoing the mandate that comes from the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5:44).  It is a difficult thing to do – bless someone who is doing harm to you, and pray for someone who is taking advantage of you.  But Jesus did exactly this for us, so that we can live abundantly (Rom. 5:8).  I know that the world tells us that this is the wrong way to treat your enemies, but this mandate doesn’t come from this world.  And neither does the new nature that you have in Christ.  Appeal to it today and try to follow verse 14…. God will bless you…
Dear Jesus, we give glory to Your name!  Being preoccupied with my well-being, You chose to sacrifice Yourself, setting aside all Your personal glories.  I thank you for Your act of love!  Teach me to know Your ways, and to model them for others in Jesus name, AMEN

God bless,
