| “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” - Romans 12:21 The picture above is a group of community walkers praying before they begin their trek. One of the activities of a TenPoint-affiliated church is that its members walk the community at crucial hours in the summer when violent activity is likely to happen. We have hundreds of people from dozens of churches walking on Fridays and Saturdays. Its a visible message of action and determination that, as neighbors, we work together to live in peace. We see both hope and courage in the last verse of Romans 12. Evil can be overcome – it is not omnipotent or all-powerful. And that is the hope. But we must participate in defeating it. Overcoming won’t happen if we sit idly by. You have a powerful, powerful good inside you (remember “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”). It is strong enough to triumph over every step evil takes. Let that good come through you today, and see what God can do with it… O Lord, I pray that you remind us of Your hope in our daily walking, and that you give us courage to believe that together, we can overcome evil today, in Jesus name, AMEN |
