40 Then he re=
turned to his disciples and found them sleeping. ”Couldn’t you men kee=
p watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 ”Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. =
;The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it i=
s not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your wi=

aying in the Garden of Gesthemene Jesus was “overwhelmed with sorrow”. =
; After the prayer, Jesus told Judas, “Do what you came for”, and had the p=
ower to go willingly into custody and, eventually, the cross. How did=
he do it? Something about prayer gave him strength. Prayer doe=
s not always change circumstances. But prayer always touches and chan=
ges you. We draw strength from prayer. We build courage through=
prayer. Prayer helps you live with God’s will for your life. W=
e know from the text that Jesus needed to steel his resolve to fulfill his =
destiny. And the Father gave his Son what he needed. Prayer is =
more than a request line. It is a life line…
Jesus, I know that prayer is my lifeline. I know that my rel=
ationship with you is the key. I pray that in this prayer hour, you w=
ill bless me with your presence. Bless me to see that your presence i=
s the one thing that anchors my day. In Jesus name, AMEN.
