I share this scripture because it became my mantra (so to speak) after I left my church for over 25 years (as member, minister and pastor) and became Executive Director of the organization I helped start, the Boston TenPoint Coalition. People would view inner city violence as a complex issue nearly impossible to manage. I began to hear the voice of God telling me otherwise. Jesus spoke these words to disciples who were trapped in their cultural understanding of community. Our Lord stretched their thinking by revealing (through his deeds) a limitless God of infinite possibilities. To become fearless in my faith, I had to stop thinking about what we couldn’t do about street violence, but what we could do with God. You must do the same. Begin this week believing in a God who can bring the impossible into the realm of possibility in your life…
Lord, I seek your hand in my life as I think outside of the box. Help me to overcome impossible, and embrace Your pathway into abundant life, in Jesus name, AMEN
