Resolutely Fearless

51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

Luke 9:51

Jesus, knowing what to do and was ahead for him, set out for his destiny.  He knew that increased opposition, rejection, humiliation, pain, and loneliness was forecast for him.  But our Lord also realized that eternal reconciliation and relationship, spiritual healing and wholeness for humanity was beyond that.  Fearless faith is not about living safely, or but it means living resolutely and with a made up mind.  It means living purposefully and steadfastly, and not necessarily “painlessly” and “safely”.  I know that Jesus had a much loftier vision, but the Lord challenges us to be no less bold in our belief.  Ask yourself this Labor Day:  How large are your goals?  How far will they stretch your faith?

Lord, we praise you for the example of your spiritual determination.  Instill in us that same spirit as we seek Your will and walk in it, in Jesus name, AMEN

God bless,
