3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

A careful look at this verse reveals a connection between “sober judgment” and the measure of “faith” God gives. The humility Paul talks about comes as you more tightly embrace the faith that God has given you. When one steps out on faith into the unknown, you discover the power of God as it moves in your life. You realize that you achieve your hopes dreams and goals not by your own might or power, but by the Spirit. There are also times in which the consequences of your actions should lead to disaster – but doesn’t. You’re spared defeat, humiliation or judgment because of God’s grace and mercy. This is why today, you should practice an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful that you are alive, and that God loves you – all of you – and holds you in His arms…
Lord, we come to prayer as humbly as we know how, realizing that we are who we are because You are God all by yourself. We thank you for everything today, and we are grateful for Your love. Bless our attitude of gratitude today, and help us to spread it among those we touch, in Your name we pray, AME
