We oftentimes think of how God can take little and make much of it – an example of this is today’s text of Jesus feeding more than 5000 – and we hope that God can bring an increase like that in our lives. But how about putting that in reverse? Can we increase being a blessing to others with what we have? I’m reminded of the parable where servants are given a piece of money to trade while the king was out of the country (Luke 19:12ff). When he returned, one had produced 10 times as much money, another 5 times as much. So what do you think God expects us to do with the blessings we receive? Think about it today, and before you answer, remember there was a 3rd servant who did nothing – read about what happened to him (Luke 19:20-26)!
O God, show me where I can be a blessing to others today. Help me to see the opportunities so that I can please You and glorify Your name with my efforts, in Jesus name, AMEN |
