7 Now instead, you=
ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by ex=
cessive sorrow. 8 I urge you, therefore, to reaf=
firm your love for him. 9 Another reason I wrote you =
was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. =
10 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I hav=
e forgiven-if there was anything to forgive-I have forgiven in the sight of=
Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan mi=
ght not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Forgiving others is more than letting go,=
it is also a tactic we use in the fight against evil. Paul tells the=
Corinthian Church to readmit someone back into their ranks who is repentan=
t of an act that is unknown to us. Paul says to “reaffirm your love f=
or him (v. 8)” by forgiving him. Satan uses the pain, hurt and resent=
ment of the unforgiving spirit to manipulate our lives. Forgiving oth=
ers takes away that power, and we “outwit” the deceiver as a result. =
Remember Satan can’t control what you let go. Reaffirm the love that =
you have in your heart today, and practice forgiveness…
O God, I let go of all resentments and bitterness stored u=
p in my heart. Wash me clean. Forgive me for all the condemning judge=
ments I have made. Give me a new and right spirit that will help enable me =
to hate sin but look with Your compassion and love upon sinners, in Jesus n=
ame, AMEN
