Contrary to what some of you may think, people are not born b=
itter and resentful. It comes with the experiences of life – what we =
react to, what we encounter and how it leaves us, what is said about us, an=
d what we think about ourselves. Hebrews 12 speaks of a “bitter root”=
. It can consist of traumatic experiences of pain, distress, disappoi=
ntment, guilt, etc. that starts the seed of bitterness growing. The memory of these things can choke life out of you.&=
nbsp; So, how do you stop the root from ruining your future? “Make ev=
ery effort to live in peace”, and start with yourself. Dig up the roo=
t causes of your bitter feelings and ask God for transformation of your min=
d (Rom. 12:2). Remove the roots of resentment out of the fertile grou=
nd of your imagination and refuse to dwell on these thoughts. Use for=
giveness as a weedkiller. But make every effort to do so – because as=
you can imagine, these roots can quickly turn into something ugly… =
=
Lord, I call on You and ask You to deliver me from my bitter roots! U=
proot and take them all away. Rid me of any doubts or fears or resent=
ments or hurts about the past, or even about things that are happening righ=
t now, and give me faith to let it all go into Your care.–To cast all my c=
ares upon You because you care for me!! In Jesus name, AMEN
