I love family reunions, because its always good t=
o know “from whence you came”, and to see it illustrated in your kin. =
The genealogy found in Matthew 1 is there to tell us from whence comes our=
King. Its there to prove that the covenants made by God to Abraham a=
nd David are being fulfilled in the Messiah’s birth. It is there to s=
how the decision to redeem humanity was made by God long, long ago. A=
s children of God, we all possess the same heritage source – we come from G=
od. As such we are co-heirs with Christ of the fruit of our lineage, which =
is to participate in God’s glory (Rom. 8:17). Advent commemorates a r=
eunion between humanity and the Lord…walk with your head held high today =
(despite the weather!)…
O Lord our spiritual heritage tell us that we are precious in Your s=
ight. Thank you for caring about us enough to redeem us to abundant a=
nd everlasting life. Raise our heads today, and allow us to walk in t=
he light of your presence with joy, in Jesus name, AMEN =
