was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. S=
he was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marri=
age, 37 and then was a widow until she was eight=
y-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting=
and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very =
moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were lo=
oking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Fearless Prophet

There are many, many instances in the bible where preparation yields =
results.  When Jesus was born and was dedicated in the temple by =
his parents, they encountered a prophetess named Anna, who spoke of humanit=
y’s redemption through the Christ child.  Although elderly, God came t=
hrough and blessed her with the honor of holding the Savior.  In Acts,=
Paul and Barnabas prayed and fasted before their journey, and miraculous t=
hings happened.  Peter and the men and women in the upper room tarried=
, and then gave birth to the Christian movement through the Holy Ghost (Act=
s 2).  There is power in preparation.  Believe that God will come=
through and He shall!

 Lord, I pray that you will bless me as I commit this new year to you.&n=
bsp; I thank you for the example of the prophet Anna, that through her fast=
ing and praying you gave her results she could hardly dream of.  Help =
me to appreciate the bread of life you give each day for this journey, in J=
esus name,  AMEN
