Fearless God as Crucible
auldrons in which human beings are tested: God’s, and humanity itself=
. Job could see the truth of Prov. 17 in his life. Jesus could =
see the effects of Prov. 27 when he came to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (remem=
ber what happened the Friday after?). What I want you to see is the m=
eaning of tests in our lives, which you find in the first part of each vers=
e. Precious metals become authentic and consistently clear when impur=
ities are burned out, hence the crucible for silvermaking and the furnace f=
or gold. But these two Proverbs also tell us that God is the ultimate=
crucible – testing our hearts; and our reaction to people’s praise (or con=
demnation) is the refiners fire testing our integrity. Trials will le=
ad to a strengthening of our spirituality, and that’s good news. Tes=
ts are unavoidable, and many times undesirable, but they are necessary in o=
rder for us to “come forth as pure” in our faith expressions. Meditat=
e on these verses, and see them play out in your life today…
Oh Almighty and Everlasting God. =
; Creator of Heaven, Earth, and the Universe:
hink, to act what is right, because it is right;
uthful, honest and honorable in all things;
ctually honest for the sake of right and honor
and without thought of reward to me.
lity to be charitable, forgiving and patient with my fellowmen -
tcomings -
