13 “Then Jesus cam=
e from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you,=
and do you come to me?”

15 =
Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this=
to fulfill all righteousness.”
 Then John consented.

16 =
As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment =
heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and =
alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven sai=
d, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

At the Fearless Heart of Faith

 =
Baptism is at the heart of our faith.  It demonstrates a comm=
itment to God, and a affirmation of our allegiance to Jesus Christ.  W=
e baptize because Jesus was baptized, and we are his followers.  There=
, on the banks of the Jordan river, with John, our Savior was “brought unde=
r” to fulfill his divine mission of atonement.   Baptism is not s=
alvation, but it is a public proclamation of our mission.  What are ot=
her ways in which you publicly proclaim your mission to walk with God?

 O Lord, I=
pray that you consider my commitment to Your will in my life.  I ask =
that you be with me as I consider the direction of my life, and contemplate=
my mission. Give me the strength to be “brought under”, in Jesus name,&nbs=
p;  Amen

God bless,
