Bless, Don’t Curse

This hard saying was uttered by =
Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5:44)  Paul repeats it here =
to his Roman congregation, because they are enduring persecution.  Thi=
s is not easy to do – asking God to bless the ones who bring pain and miser=
y to your life, or praying for someone who you know is taking advantage of =
you.  But your ability to do so reveals the Christ in you.  Remem=
ber, Jesus endured for you.  “While we were yet sinners, Christ died f=
or us” (Rom. 5:8).  And because Jesus did it, you can do it too. =
I know the world we live in tells us that this doesn’t make sense, but thi=
s scriptural command does not come from this world.  Remember we are i=
n the world, but not of it…

Dear Jesus, we give glory to Your name=
!   Being preoccupied with my well-being, You chose to self-sacri=
fice Yourself, setting aside all Your personal glories. I thank You Lord Je=
sus for Your act of love! Your action has drawn me closer to You. Teach me =
to be a blessing to everyone, to sacrifice in order to help others, In Jesu=
s name, AMEN

God bless,
