When I would go t=
o church with my grandmother, I would watch the Spirit lift the church memb=
ers (many of them my relatives). It would happen while they were sing=
ing, but especially when the pastor was preaching. People would rock =
and cry, or stand, wave their hands, shout, and speak in “tongues”. I=
also noticed that people would come out of that worship experience with a =
brighter attitude toward life. The Reverend would say “I feel my help=
coming!” as he preached with more energy and fervency. The Spirit is=
our “helper”. That’s another word that John uses to describe the Thi=
rd Person of the Trinity (John 14:16-18). Remember the Spirit can hel=
p lift your spirits today…
Spirit, help me today. Lift my spirit, and bless me by allowing me t=
o witness your protection and care in my life, so I can testify to your goo=
dness, mercy and grace… in Jesus name, AMEN.
