So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evan=
gelists, the pastors and teachers,12&nbs=
p;to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ =
;may be built up 13 until we all re=
ach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and=
become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14=
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the =
waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the c=
unning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we w=
ill grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head,=
that is, Christ.
16 From him =
the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grow=
s and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

God desires us to m=
ove spiritually from infancy to maturity. What does it mean to be mat=
ure in our faith? The difference can be seen in our text today. Babes=
in Christ are easily influenced by the cares of the world, and by manipula=
tive teachers and preachers. The way to growth is found in sound prea=
ching and teaching, finding you niche in service to God, and “speaking the =
truth in love”, or simply walking your talk.
I ask you, O. God, to bless my growth in Jesus today. Teach me=
how to heed to sound doctrine, and to be “in the world but not of the worl=
d”. Bless me to be a blessing to others, as it adds to the body of Ch=
rist, in Jesus name, AMEN.
