20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons an=
d, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.
21 ”What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant th=
at one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at you=
r left in your kingdom.”
24=
When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two =
brothers. 25 Jesus called them toge=
ther and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it=
over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever=
wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- 28 just as the Son of Man did no=
t come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom&nb=
sp;for many.”

Maturity comes when we see=
how our faith deepens the more we express it in service. James tells=
us that “faith without works is dead” (Jas 2:20). It is a requiremen=
t that we “work out” the expression of our salvation in deeds. The go=
spel spreads by each of us demonstrating how the “good news” can change liv=
es. Our greatest example is the Savior himself. Our text tells =
us that, being God, he came to serve us (v. 28), and give his life for us.&=
nbsp; We must follow his example, for in helping others and in bearing witn=
ess do we find the real keys to greatness…
sp; Help me to spread acts of kindness, mercy and love today, and let other=
s see the Christ in me, in Jesus name, AMEN.
