14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascen=
ded into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, l=
et us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize=
with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, ju=
st as we are -yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence,&nbs=
p;so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of nee=
d.

No one escapes temptation =
- it is a part of our living as children of God. But Jesus never lays=
us out in the world exposed and defenseless. Our text tells us that =
our Savior was tempted in every way. That tells us that Jesus knows a=
nd understands our struggles. The Lord is our fortress and our streng=
th – our protector from the “tempter’s snare”. He protects us by prov=
iding ways to resist and escape (1 Cor. 10:13). A sign of spiritual m=
aturity is our ability to seek prayer when tempted (v. 16), and to believe =
that God will provide…
prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care,&nb=
sp;And bids me at my Father’s throne, Make all my wants and wishes known.&n=
bsp; In seasons of distress and grief My soul has often found relief, And o=
ft escape the tempter’s snare, By thy return, sweet hour of prayer. in Jesu=
s name, AMEN.
