The time of Jeremiah’s pro=
phesy finds the nation caught in their self-righteousness, and preparing fo=
r war with Babylon. They can not see that their own expressions of fa=
ith are merely hollow rituals without sincerity. But the prophet tell=
s them that, despite the war’s outcome (they will lose), God will yet fulfi=
ll the promise and make them a great nation. God will fulfill the pro=
mise made in your life as well, despite your circumstances, because the “ri=
ghteous Branch” dwells within you. LIke the potter and the clay, Jere=
miah 33 shows us that even our self-righteousness cannot stop the action of=
God from shaping and, if necessary, reshaping our lives for the better…
Lord we celebrate yo=
u as our Righteousness today! We thank you, even for coming in to mol=
d and reshape us. Forgive us our insincerity, and our self-righteousn=
ess. I ask that you teach us to feel your presence in our circumstanc=
es, and lean on you today, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN.
