33 Be on=
guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.  34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and pu=
ts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells th=
e one at the door to keep watch.  35 ”Therefore =
keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come ba=
ck-whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at=
dawn.  36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him =
find you sleeping.  37 What I say to you, I say =
to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

Fearlessly Keeping Watch

There’s an article in tod=
ay’s local paper about the oceans rising and affecting the New England shor=
elines.  When I read about this, it reminds me that collectively we mu=
st pay more attention to the environmental signs of our times. The same goe=
s for our relationship with God.  Jesus gives a message to his discipl=
es:  Be on guard!.   Following Jesus is not occasional.  It =
does not end on Sunday evening, and begin Sunday morning.  You must gi=
ve attention to your relationship with God daily.   Early Christian mo=
nks would perform prayer and scripture ‘vigils’ in the early morning. &nbsp=
;”Vigil” means literally to “keep watch”.  Be aware of your relationsh=
ip with God throughout the day today…

Lord =
teach me to be attentive to You daily.  Help me to trust in You, and n=
ot in my own understanding.  Teach me to remember You in all my activi=
ties, and direct my life (Prov. 3:5,6) in Jesus name, AMEN.

God bless,
