19 We love because God first loved us.  20 If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we c=
annot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we ha=
ve seen.
21 The command that Chris=
t has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also.

Fearlessly Purging Bitterness

God is the source of our power to love=
(v. 19), and it is a command from the scriptures to love others as a resul=
t.  Love is not a one time thing for God, nor does it fade or run out =
if we sin.  God’s love is constant in our lives.  Resentment and =
bitterness do not have love as an ingredient.  We take away the sting =
of these emotions when we allow love to dominate our character.  Are y=
ou holding anything against anyone today?  Prayer about it is a good p=
lace to start…

Father, I acknowledge t=
hat I’ve held resentment and bitterness in my heart.  I confess this a=
s sin and ask you to forgive me.  Remind me, Lord, to not hold any mor=
e resentments, but rather to love everyone, especially the ones who have wr=
onged me. Father, I ask you to allow Your love to dominate my character.
Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In=
Jesus’ name,

AMEN

God bless,
