3 Elijah was =
afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba =
in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he =
himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush,&=
nbsp;sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough,&nb=
sp;Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep=
.

All at once an ange=
l touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked =
over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down agai=
n.

Running Away from Self-Pity

After Elijah had just d=
efeated the priests of Baal in a contest, and they were stoned to death as =
a result, the action drew an unexpected response from the wife of Israeli K=
ing Ahab, Jezebel.  She called for Elijah’s execution.  Elijah ra=
n, and hid, and mournfully reflected on his circumstances.  Its import=
ant to see that self-pity comes to the best of us, even in circumstances wh=
ere we have clear evidence of God’s blessings in our lives.  Self-pity=
, however, can come anytime trouble comes in our lives.  We think, tha=
t we’ve done God’s bidding, yet trouble persists.  One thing to rememb=
er:  God will still take care of you.  Jesus will always supply y=
our needs, according to His riches in glory, and remind you that you belong=
to Him, not trouble…

God, Look kindly upon me, =
and take pity on me, as I assess what I face today, and wallow in my esteem=
issues.  Lord, revive my spirit today, as I walk in Your ways.&n=
bsp; Remind me that You are ever with me, even when trouble comes my way.&n=
bsp; I pray this prayer in Jesus name, AMEN
God bless,
