2 Then the wo=
rd of the Lord came to Elijah: 3 “Leav=
e here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jorda=
n. 4 You will drink from the brook, and I have d=
irected the ravens to supply you with food there.”
5 So he did what the Lord had told him. He went t=
o the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morn=
ing and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

rgy in street ministry (sorry for the time delay – it’s 7:40am here!). &nbs=
p;Last night, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss 3d preached a message at Allen Temple Bapt=
ist Church using in part the passage above. Rev. Moss called them “th=
ugged out” ravens, because of the bird’s tendency to grab food and hide it =
from other animals to save for a rainy day. What makes the command fr=
om God more astonishing is that ravens were on the “unclean” list for Israe=
lites. The Lord used an unlikely source to bless his prophet, and keep him =
alive and strong. Remember you can never predict how God will bring blessin=
gs your way – so be open to it coming from any source. What might be =
the “ravens” to keep you alive and strong today?
O God, I praise you=
for your constant provision in my life. I pray that you open my eyes=
to the possibilities of what You use to bless me today, and stretch my fai=
th, in Jesus name, AMEN.
